Awareness Programme on Spread of Corona virus and COVID-19

An Awareness Programme regarding “Spread of Corona virus and COVID-19” was held in the
premises of GMN College, Ambala Cantt. on 18th March 2020. In the programme, Dr. Pallavi
Syal, Microbiologist, Civil Hospital, Ambala was present as the keynote speaker. College
Principal, Dr. Rajpal Singh welcomed Dr. Pallavi and college physician, Dr. Gulshan Nagpal and
thanked them for sparing their valuable time for creating awareness about the college staff on
such an important topic. In his address, Dr. Singh said that today's society was scared of
coronavirus but people should take precautions and follow the guidelines issued by the
government for preventing the spread of disease.
While addressing the staff members, Dr. Pallavi provided a lot of information about the
symptoms of coronavirus, the precautions to be taken from it and how to get rid of its
unintentional fear spread in the society. Dr. Pallavi Syal expressed concern over the increasing
cases of corona virus and provided information on how to avoid infection. On this occasion, Dr.
Gulshan explained in detail the Do’s and Don’ts for preventing the infection of coronavirus. He
said that it was important to consult a doctor if anybody was suffering from cough, fever or
difficulty in breathing. Dr. Pallavi Syal cautioned that it was not so easy to know the active
carriers of the coronavirus but by using mask and cleaning hands with soap or sanitizer, one
could protect oneself. On this occasion, Mr. Vikas Agarwal from Krishna Meditech, Ambala
Cantt. also provided free masks to the college. All the teaching and non-teaching staff members
of the college got benefitted from the programme.
