National Webinar on “Leadership in Politics: Emerging Dimensions in India”

Post Graduate Department of G.M.N. College, Ambala Cantt organised a
National Webinar on “Leadership in Politics: Emerging Dimensions in India” on
25.06.2021. Dr. Sandeep Shastri, Vice Chancellor, Jagran Lakecity University
Bhopal were the Key Note Speaker and Dr. Kushal Pal, Head Department of
Political Science invited as Resource Person. Dr. Raj Pal Singh, Worthy
Principal, G.M.N. College, Ambala Cantt formely welcomed the dignitaries. Dr.
Krishan Kumar Punia read out the theme of Webinar. Dr. Sandeep Shastri
explored the relevance of Leadership in Contemporary Political Scenario and
analyzed the role of different political parties in newly emerging leadership.
Discussing the nature of Indian Federation, he asserted that centralization of
power as the political persona of a single person is ruling the rest in entire
political system. He beautifully explored how the projection of Narender Modi
as Prime Ministerial candidate of BJP changed the entire political scenario at
the National level. Dr. Shastri also highlighted the role of State leadership in
formation of Govt. Citing the example of recent assembly elections in four
states with facts and figures, he explored how the political parties with
charismatic leadership could beat the anti-incumbency factor. He also
discussed the context, role of states in Govt. formation at union level and the
basis of leadership.
Dr. Kushal Pal, speaking as a resource person,, highlighted certain new trends
influencing leadership role and style particularly civil society movements in the
recent past and role being played by organisations in policy and governance.
Question answer session was also organised towards the conclusion of
webinar. The Keynote Speaker and Resource Person replied the queries
raised by the participants.
Dr. S.S. Nain presented vote of thanks. 289 participants got themselves
registered for the webinar. Dr. Krishan Kumar, Dr. Saroj Bala, Dr.
Rakesh, Dr. Parvesh Kumar and Dr. Tripti Sharma were present in this
occasion.
