National Webinar on "Relevance of Marxism in contemporary Indian Society"

A National Webinar was organized by the Sociology Department, GMN
College, Ambala Cantt on the topic- "Relevance of Marxism in
contemporary Indian Society" on 5/7/2021. Dr Manoj Kumar, Associate
Professor, PGGC, Sector-11, Chandigarh and Dr. Amandeep Singh,
Department of Evening Studies, MDRC, Panjab University, Chandigarh
were invited as keynote speakers.
With a focus on the relevance of Marxism in the Indian society, both the
speakers pointed out glaring inequalities visible in different areas of our
society and discussed the class-based analysis by Marx in the current
context. The learned speakers emphasized that the possible way out is
the mindful use of State power in the distribution of resources and
delivery of state welfare policies. Queries of the participants were taken
and resolved satisfactorily.
