Report of Workshop on Standardization & Calibration For Realization of Make in India, Skill India and Start up India. Two days’ workshop on Standardization & Calibration was organized in GMN College, Ambala Cantt on 3 rd & 4 th October, 2019 in collaboration with Haryana State Electronics Development corporation ( HARTRON ). Workshop has realized mandate of Skill India, Make in India & Start-up India, flagship programs of Govt. of India. A total of 81 students and 16 teachers from science stream participated keenly in the event. On the inaugural day of workshop, Dr. Rajpal Singh, Principal, GMN College Ambala Cantt , welcomed Chief Guest, Dr. D.K. Kaushik, Vice Chancellor Shobit University, Gangoh ( UP ), Sh. Mukesh Bajaj, AGM Hartron ( Head Office Panchkula ) and Sh. D.S. Kajal, AGM Hartron, IDDC , Ambala Cantt . Dr. Rajpal told the students that this workshop is a unique initiative of Hartron intended to realize Skill India, Make in India & Start-up India and asked the students to take keen interest in the workshop so that they may be able to shape their career in the upcoming global scenario of challenges and competition and as also full of opportunities. Dr. V.K. Bindal, Dean Science Faculty set the context of the workshop by explaining the objectives of workshop and thanked the Hartron for selecting GMN College for this workshop of National repute. Sh. D.S. Kajal, AGM , HARTRON told that this unique initiative of Hartron has been made possible by enabling directions of Sh. Ankur Gupta, IAS Principal Secretary Govt. of Haryana. He gave a detailed presentation on contents of the delivery of the workshop including the philosophy behind. The whole concept of standards ranging from international standards, national standards, and primary standards well up to working standards was detailed. The concept of traceability and hierarchy of calibration lab was also elaborated. Dr. D.K. Kaushik, chief guest of the workshop elaborated upon the Skill India, Make in India & Start-up India and impressed upon the college faculty and students as to become this noble drive of Govt. of India towards making India a knowledge based economy where youth of the nation is not job seeker rather job creator for others. He also visited Computer Laboratory, where set up of demo version of work shop was arranged. He took keen interest and discussed practical aspects of work shop with officials of HARTRON. He was accompanied by the principal of college and members of science faculty. Sh SK Bathla, Head Department of Electronics proposed the vote of thanks. He thanked Dr. D.K. Kaushik and entire team of Hartron engineers / professionals for their respective roles in the workshop. He also thanked Dr Rajpal Singh, Principal for inspiring the conduct of this workshop in the college. He also thanked all the faculty members and participating students in the workshop. The students were divided in four batches of 20 students and 4 teachers. Each batch was allocated 3 hours, where HARTRON officials has provided details of standardization and Calibration in the field of Mass, Length, Volt, Current, Frequency, Inductance ,Resistance and Capacitance etc. Here students and teachers took keen interest in performing observations and calculations. On 4 th October 2019 , during the Valedictory session at 3 pm ,Dr. Raj Pal Singh, Principal of the college welcomed the chief guest Dr. Anil Pundir, Registrar, Guru Jambeshwar University of Science and Technology, Hissar and asked the students to listen Dr Anil Pundir carefully and follow the path shown by worthy chief guest, develop skills in yourself and launch start up to gain name and fame for their selves and institutions. In the valedictory address, Dr Anil Pundir presented a practical viewpoint of Skill India, Make in India & Start-up India and called upon the students that only youth have always innovated big things. Dr. Pundir discussed various major innovations of mankind which have transformed the life of human being based on the knowledge economy. Dr. Pundir awarded the certificates to the participants of the workshop. Dr SK Pandey, Head , Deptt of Physics proposed a formal vote of thanks to the chief guest Dr Anil Pundir, Dr RP Singh, worthy principal of college and all officials of HATRON and all the participants. OUT COME OF WORK SHOP: The capacity / facility of Calibration & Standardization of Haryana State Electronics Development Corporation (HARTRON) is utilized to learn standardization of processes and products of manufacturing sector; thus giving an competitive edge to manufacturers in India. This may lead to strengthening and implementation of mandate of Make in India, Skill India and Startup India programs. Benefits to teaching faculty & students:- The trained / sensitized faculty has become a permanent resource of calibration & standardization in our institutes and shall inculcate the culture of quality & standard among the students in making them brace the growing competitive environment of quality products / processes in the industry. Passing out students thus shall be more industry ready and employable, particularly in manufacturing sector. Thus the teaching environment of institutes may take a leap forward from theoretical academia to industrial academia which a developing nation always vies for.
