“CLEAN CAMPUS- GREEN CAMPUS” – NEW INITIATIVES
Campus is located in the vicinity of approximately more than 250 trees. Various tree plantation programs are being organized during the month of July and August at college campus and surrounding villages through NSS, NCC unit & environment club to create clean and green and all these trees are taken care of and maintained by the gardeners of the institution.
To create awareness towards environmental sustainability, different competitions (poster making/ slogan writing, wild life photography, quiz, declamation) are organised on Environment day, Ozone Day, Wetland Day, science day.
Different extension activities such as environment awareness camps, industrial visits, tree plantation, and cleanliness camps are conducted periodically to create awareness towards environmental sustainability and take actions to ensure it. The College makes the student aware of “Biodiversity and its Conservation” as a curriculum in the subject of Environmental Studies in the first year programme. Projects/assignments are also given to students based on latest topics like Industrial waste, e-waste etc.
The college maintains a herbal & botanical garden having a large variety of medicinal plants and wide variety of plant species. Our college is also running a UGC add- on- course entitled, “Pharmaceutical Chemistry based on Ayurveda” to do research in the field of medicinal plants.
The green campus, organic vermi- composting, solar grids, LEDs, rain water harvesting practices are noteworthy. Solar panels (31 KV) are installed on the roof top. The use of plastic bags is avoided in the campus and the authority is planning to declare the entire campus as “No Plastic Zone”. The college generally does not generate any hazardous waste in any manner. Waste is segregated as biodegradable and non-biodegradable. E-waste generated in the campus is very less in quantity. Printer Cartridges are generally refilled and not disposed. Wherever refilling is not possible, the cartridge is returned to the manufacturer.
